My first surfing experience on the south shores of Oahu in 1972 ignited a passion that lives on today. I have been very fortunate to be able to balance work with surfing, and what better way to do that than build surfboards.
I lived in Imperial Beach, California as a young man and surfed there and the surrounding areas for many years. Going surfing in northern Baja for the weekends was a special treat. In 1981 I started building boards for myself and friends. I did the shaping, painting, glassing and learned a lot about surfboard design.
I kept surfing when time permitted, and completed my studies at San Diego State University getting a B.A. in Industrial Arts. This led me to a move to Florida.
I still love to get out and surf. My board building has taken a new turn with the hollow wood. These boards require skilled craftsmanship, but the results speak for themselves. They are fun to ride and beautiful to display.
